According to § 4 of the Act No. 308/2000 Coll. on broadcasting and retransmission and on changes of the Act No.195/2000 Coll. on telecommunications all activities of the Council resulting from its position and its scope are carried out by the members of the Council. Employees of the Office of the Council for Broadcasting and Retransmission (CBR) ensure the agenda connected with activities of the Council.

According to § 13 of the Act No. 308/2000 Coll. cited above, the Office of CBR ensures tasks that are connected with the organisational, personal, administrative and technical set-up of the CBR activities and the implementation of its decisions.

Composition, organisation and scope of the Office CBR are set out in the Statute of the CBR. Activities of the Office of CBR are regulated in more detail in the Organisation Order of the Office of CBR and Working Regulations of the Office CBR.

Currently the Office of CBR is divided into three parts. First there is a unit of the director of the office, that covers the secretarial, technical, external communication and European affairs activities. There are also two other separate departments that are responsible for the content side of the work of the Office of CBR: the legal and licencing department and the programme department.
